Public Note:
pores blueing, cap red/brown with NH4OH and KOH. No reaction on flesh. Flesh reddening sligthly in air. X. squamulosus belongs in Wu, Clade 8 sister to Phylloporus. The flesh should change reddish then blue - unlike Xerocomus ss. Hymenium with same broad oliferous hyphae seen in other collections (9246). Cystidia not observed. Spores length=10.6–13.5µm (µ=12.0, σ=0.75), width=4.3–5.1µm (µ=4.7, σ=0.22), Q=2.2–2.8µm (µ=2.55, σ=0.17), n=20
