Public Note:
FeSO4 rapid pink, guaiac no reaction. KOH on flesh nil. NH4OH on cap nil (not green so not atroviridis), KOH pale orange. Cuticle peeling halfway, revealing purple flush under skin (not green so not karera), edge lightly grooved. Taste and smell nil. Stem with very pale pink flush. Without DCY. Do DNA - Pat. [PL] "This has thick walled pleurocystidia and no dermatocystidia, when combined with the other characters you record this points to R. tawai. The taste (should be slowly hot) and pointillist cap seem to be wrong, but I am convinced it is R.tawai. ". [JAC2010] It has septate DCY and sparse and mainly thin-walled pleurocystidia. I could find just one cystdium that looked thick-walled, but not like R. tawai. It is absolutely identical to 10953, macroscopically and sequence-wise. Material with Pat 20/1/2011. In a clade with PL1080 (as R. atrovirens), and JAC10953 (as R. atroviridis). Not R. tawai. However identity as R. atroviridis requires confirmation. Sent to Pat apparently, and confirmed as atroviridis. Returned Feb. Reaction with NH4OH brings into question validity of this test.
