guaiac negative. FeSO4 strong salmon. KOH on cap pale orange. NH4OH nil. both on flesh nil. Gills D with a pale buff/grey tinge. Small amount of browning on gills and flesh. Stem with fine raised vinaceous buff reticulation. Gills thick, occasional lamellulae and some anastomising near stem, some with small amount of brown discoloured edge, basally intervenose. Stem cylindrical, stuffed. Cap dry, peeling to halfway, lightly striate at margin. Cap fawn at edge to umber in the centre. No smell, gills and fleash mild. spore print B. DCY present but no reaction in SV absent. Pat - R. griseobrunnea. [JAC2010] has the same forked cap hairs as 10836 but more elongate. Spores do not have same high Q, although they do have distinct plage. The eccentricity is more apparent in spores from print than on the gill, i.e. it is not a consistent character. Gill spores: length=6.5–7.8µm (µ=7.3, σ=0.4), width=5.8–6.9µm (µ=6.4, σ=0.4), Q=1.0–1.2µm (µ=1.1, σ=0.1), n=16, print spores: length=6.9–8.4µm (µ=7.6, σ=0.6), width=5.4–7.0µm (µ=6.1, σ=0.6), Q=1.1–1.4µm (µ=1.2, σ=0.1), n=9. Length=6.3–7.0µm (µ=6.7, σ=0.2), width=5.1–6.2µm (µ=5.6, σ=0.3), Q=1.1–1.3µm (µ=1.20, σ=0.05), n=20, ornamentation 0.8um. Material with Pat 20/1/2011. Returned Feb. Revised as griseostipitata
