Specimen notes
Public Note:
without basal bulb, some with white sock. Smell slightly acidulous, no taste. Smooth spored. Pleurocystidia metuloid. Weakly encrusted. Some cheilo and fewer pleurocystidia brown in KOH. Spores amygdaliform. Cap 9-13mm. Stem 1.5-2mm x 2-3cm. A very small Inocybe. Cap splitting radially. Signs of a velipellis in centre of cap (veilar remnants remaining as felty closely attached patches that look structurally different to underlying tissue). Cap rimose but not scaly. Stem with white silky fibrils along entire length but not pruinose. Vellipellis with thin hyaline tapering terminal elements, not thick walled. Rimose tissue with extracellular brown pigment, clamped. Can't discern much difference between pleuro and cheilocystidia. Cheilocystidia 53-63(57) x 14-23(2). Apex wall 2-5(3) SD1 n=8. Spores thick walled 8.8-11.2(9.7) SD0.5 n=30 x 5.2-6.3(5.8) SD0.3 n=13. Not one of Egon's species. Stature places close to mendica/gracilior (but thise without velipellis).
