Specimen notes
Public Note:
cap with rosaceous tint, smooth. Hygrophanous, tacky. No taste. Smell slightly raphanoid. Stem smooth. Spore print yellowish cream (plate E in BMS colour chart). This is a sequence confirmed Rhodocollybia and thus not all species have pinkish spore prints. Pileipellis an interwoven partially gelatinised cutis. Clamps not observed. Stipe without caulocystidia, also no clamps observed. In this material and uncharacteristically the spores on the cap and stem are not dextrinoid whereas many on the lamellae are. In addition the collapsed apiculus is also more dominant on these lamellae-dextrinoid spores. Cheilocystidia, if present, basidiolar. 4-spored. Note this species is much less robust than R. butryracea, has a cream and not pinkish print, and does not have (abundant/any) clamp connections. Lammellae tisue shows a diffuse pink reaction to sulphovanillin unlike te reaction for R. butyracea noted by Clemencon. Spores from print (uncollapsed) length=6.7–9.0µm (µ=7.6, σ=0.59), width=3.1–4.4µm (µ=3.6, σ=0.32), Q=1.9–2.6µm (µ=2.14, σ=0.20), n=20. Collapsed dextrinoid spores length=5.1–6.3µm (µ=5.8, σ=0.40), width=3.1–4.0µm (µ=3.5, σ=0.32), Q=1.3–1.9µm (µ=1.64, σ=0.17), n=14. Pileus to 3.7cm diam. Stipe 5.8 x 1.1 at base, 0.3 at apex. Lamella edge lacerate.
