Phylogenetically the species is Hyphodiscaeae.
The apothecia form large gregarious groups across fallen Pseudopanax leaves. The individual discs are less than 0.5 mm diam., sessile, urceolate, pale green, externally with a finely ridged appearance (superficially similar to the phylogentically distant 'Arachnopeziza' rhopalostylidis (Lachnaceae)). The excipulum comprises long-cylindric cells arranged in parallel rows embedded in thick gel. The outermost excipular hyphae become more or less free and hair-like, and here the cell walls are finely roughened and pale brown. Paraphyses are dimorphic, some 1.5-2 um diam., more or less undifferentiated at apex and about the same length as the asci, others up to 4 um diam., broadly lanceolate and extending 15-20 um beyond the asci. Ascospores 6-9 x 1.5-2 um, clavate, ends broadly rounded, radially symmetrical, 0-septate, hyaline. Asci about 30-35 x 5 um, more or less cylindric, amyloid pore, 8-spored.
