Specimen notes
Public Note:
unusual in being fasciculate and on (very) rotten wood. Cap brown fibrillose in centre. Stem entirely covered in brown fibrils. Gills dried pink with dark edge, and cap drying with pinkish hue around edge. No reaction with KOH or NH4OH on dried material. Cheilocystidia cylindrical, with brown internal crystals, no pleurocystidia. 4 spored, dextrinoid, elliptical/amygdaliform. Cap tissue unclamped. Cap fibrils brown, lightly rugulose, to 11um wide, some with paler tapering sinuose ends, sometimes with internal crystals. With stem fibrils like cap fibrils but thinner and paler, stem tissue dextrinoid. Cap fibrils and spores metachromatic. Basidia 8x23um. Spores without germ pore. Close to tener/melanothrichus (var. fuligineobruneus) - see Reid Mycotaxon and Leucocop heinemannii (See FAN) but not any of these - this more 'leucocoprinoid' with longer stem and crystals in cystidia. Spores 6.8-7.8(7.4) SD 0.3 n=13 x 4.1-4.6(4.4) SD0.1 n=13.
