Specimen notes
Public Note:
no smell. Stem with caulocystidia along entire length - becoming brown hairs towards base. Cap surface tissue gelatinised. With cheilo & pleurocystidia. No tissue amyloid or dextrinoid. Cap a loose cutis with hair-like pilocystidia. Clamped. 8.9-10(9.5)SD0.5 x 4.5-5.3(4.9) SD0.3. File as Stevenson's M. omphaloides - but that with amyloid cap hairs (really?!). [2016] Subsequent examination of Stevenson's type show the hairs are yellow and not amyloid/dextrinoid, and there are no cheilocystidia. This is not M. omphaloides. It marginally sits in Omphalotaceae, near G. contrarius with perhaps the same form of caulocystidia, and near Calyptella totara. Gen. nov. required
