Specimen notes
Public Note:
From same site as 10412. This belongs in Moncalvo's Hydropoid clade along with Gerronema strombodes, Megacollybia platphylla, Clitocybula occulis. See also Corner's Trogia odorata (Solomon's and smells of aniseed) and T. pleurotoides (rough spored). These seem close to me. Should have sarcodimitic tissue in the stem. Does it? Gerronema is in Moncalvos hydropid (27) and Matheney's Marasmioid IV. Whichever way I do this analysis I do not find G. nemorale in the same group as G. strombodes. Antonin et al must have seen this result when they analysed sequences including M. platyphylla which probably also split their nemorale from strombodes. I.e. both this taxon and G. nemorale (and subclavatum) probably don't belong in Gerronema. Why didn't they include Clitocybula atroalba (atrialba) in the analysis? Proximity of a 'Clitocybula' suggests spore amyloidity is homoplasic in this clade at least. Barissa's comment (concerning C. canariensis) that Clitocybula forms a natural group is supported although insufficient current sampling. Note that Egon in NZJB 1971, v9, p462 commented that cahracters of the cuticle suggest this should be placed in Hydropus or Gerronema and he was quite right.
