Specimen notes
Public Note:
Cap grey/argillaceous - not white. Gills argillaceous and just going pinkish. A Clitopilus with ridged spores, collapsing. Cap hyphae minutely hyaline encrusted. Spore ornamentation not cyanophilous. Spores 7-8.6(7.7) SD0.5 n=13 x 4.4-5.7(5.1) SD0.4 n=14. Spores closest to PDD88168 and context & size closest to PDD88169. The crystal encrusted hyphae and Singer's description lead me to this taxon known from Argentina and N.America. Not C. incrustans as that with brown plate pigment on cap hyphae. New record for New Zealand. Egon disagrees with determination. I also suspect Murrill's Pleurotus viticola is also a Clitopilus like this judging by description and spores. Egon comments that spores of this are not like incrustans (but didn't comment about argentinus)`. Reported to MAF 2/07/2010
