Specimen notes
Public Note:
material very fragile when dry. Hymenium without dextrinoid reaction, broad thin-walled hyphae to 6um, clamped, and no cystidial elements seen. 4-spored, spores globose, hyaline in KOH, length=3.1-3.6µm (µ=3.3, σ=0.17), width=2.7-3.0µm (µ=2.8, σ=0.13), Q=1.1-1.3µm (µ=1.16, σ=0.09), n=7. Weakly dextrinoid in mass, distinctly dextrinoid when immature and attached, glassy walled, not cyanophilous. The fact that Podoserpula have dextrinoid spores (along with the relted Hygrophoropsis umbriceps sensu Horak and Cantharellus insignis) is not typical of the Amylocorticiales, with amyloid spores.
