Specimen notes
Public Note:
cap bluish grey, fruitbody elastic, drying white. Cap hyphae diverticulate, weakly amyloid. With flexuose pleuro and cheilocystidia, spores inamyloid, amydaliform 10x6um. No tissue amyloid or dextrinoid, hyphae clamped, subpileus gelatinous. From the descriptions of the synonyms this is clearly a variable taxon. Why isn't it in Marasmiellus? See alse Egon's 67/210 under Delicatula. I have a number of similar collections under marasmiellus (9808, 9874, 10168, 9207) and campanella (9950, 10223, 9980) which are similar. Campanella sensu Singer should have very strongly interveined gills, gelatinized trama and pleurotoid habit - and marasmiellus not. Out of all above only 9980 is a convincing campanella. 9950 & 1023 (c. tristris) should be in marasmiellus. They are distinguished from 9874, 10168 & 9207 in having a grey stem but both sets of taxa arise from cushion primordia. . 9808 stands alone as a good m. candidus.
