Specimen notes
Public Note:
yellow involute, without distinct smell, taste hot, tan/salmon pink in FeSO4. With some lamellulae. To acrolamellata again. To Pat 11/1/2010. This must be australis/littorea? Are the dried gills orange? [JAC Sep 2011] no the gills are not orange (like the type of allochroa) they are closer to the types of australis, multicystidiata, solitaria, papakaiensis, albolutescens, litoralis. Gill edge macrocystidia emergent to 30um on unsquashed material. Cap cutis a 250um layer of interwoven hyphae over sphaerocysts. Cap with a range of cystidia from thin and tapered acuminate to broad, cylindrical and apically obtuse, to 140um. Stem cutis a filamentous layer over sphaerocysts with cystidia identical to cap. Not much sign of a plage but irregular amyloid spot (lilac/grey) present. Spores length=9.0–10.6µm (µ=9.7, σ=0.47), width=7.0–8.2µm (µ=7.8, σ=0.30), Q=1.2–1.3µm (µ=1.25, σ=0.05), n=20, ornamentation to 1.9um. This has the spores of allochroa, not any othe the other candidates.
