Specimen notes
Public Note:
smell faint but slightly aniseed, cap flesh slowly brown/red on cutting, small area of stem base slightly yellow, schaeffer negative, taste mild, sweetish. KOH on dried cap brown/red. Stem below ring fibrillose. Cap with silky adpressed fibrils, gills with clay buff/drab colour on maturity (not a saturated colour). Gill edge looks fertile under stereo but isn't, with a dense layer of cheilocystidia to 10um wide (and layer of gill is strongly dextrinoid), 4-spored, spores ellipsoid, without germ pore,length=5.3–6.3µm (µ=5.8, σ=0.28), width=3.6–4.4µm (µ=3.9, σ=0.21), Q=1.3–1.7µm (µ=1.48, σ=0.07), n=20, ring without scales. Section sanguinolente? For FAN5 this is close to A. impudicus. =ZT9371? and see also jac9843, 9485. Sequence indicates this is not A. impudicus sensu Mitchell and not A. impudicus auct Europe (but no sequences). PL8111 is the same.
