Specimen notes
Public Note:
Buried in litter. Smell slightly chlorine? Taste very hot. No red tints - just brown. Cap not an epithelium, Spores typically russuloid, coarsely reticulate 10um. Doesn't fit any NZ fungi species. This seems on the border of Russual/Macowanites even if immature. . PL:"This is R acrolamellata. Ross Beaver found a very similar collection at Dunedin which baffled me. Young and even not so young specimens can look distinctly secotoid and they are not pectinate, but everything else fits." [JAC] has subcuticular oleiferous hyphae with refractive content, like R. riawkaiensis, but without winged spores..
