Specimen notes
Public Note:
photo on 0.8. Cap and stem hairy, stem greyish, central to lateral, no gelatinous layer peeling. Gills drying tan, emarginate. Spores thin-walled, (very weakly dextrinoid?), collapsing. 4-spored length=7.2\endash8.8µm (µ=8.0, σ=0.4), width=4.7\endash5.5µm (µ=5.1, σ=0.3), Q=1.4\endash1.8µm (µ=1.6, σ=0.1), n=16, without cheilo-pleuro cystidia, cap densely tomentose with tortuous hairs not dextrinoid, encrusted below (bit like flagelloscypha), not clamped. Doesn't key in Horak. NM to Resupinatus but not really - that with coralloid cap cells and gelatinous layer. On further examination it seems the spores are weakly longitudinally ridged which shows up most when spores collpase. In water mount the spores have a distinct refringent internal body. Another Clitopilus but not really obvious. Cap with encrusted cap hyphae, so has to be near C. argentinus but this with larger spores and tortuose cap hairs.
