Specimen notes
Public Note:
mealy smell, silky cap. Cap surface hyphae with extra-cellular zebra pigment, and dispersed intra-cellular pigment and to 12um diam but most thinner, broad clamps. Spores 5-6 sided, isodiametric low Q. Gill edge fertile and with basidiolar cystidia. FAN1 to E. sericeum (ignoring basidioles!). Is this the same as Stevenson's congregatum? Egon has congregatum and sericeum as not umbilictate and latter as smaller than former (spores as well - even tho European sizes are quoted larger), and former with olive tinge - which this seems to have. Nordeloos' varieties of sericeum take colour vriants into account. Will file as E. congregatum but suspect not that different to sericeum (var. congregatum!).
