Noted by Heenan 1990. Try Boesewinkel's key. Powdery mildews recorded on Malvacea are Leveillula taurica (Althaea), L. contractirostris(probably syn of latter),L malvacearum (syn of L.t.), Neoerysiphe galeopsidis (Althaea), Oidium albemsochi (Hibiscus), Oidium urenae (Urena), Erysiphe orontii (Hibiscus) [doubtful I think], Sphaerotheca fuliginia (Hibiscus) [also dodgy], Podosphaera xanthi (Albemoschus), Brasiliomyces malvastri & malachrae (Malvastrum), Eryisphe americana, E. cichoracearum. Braun accepts the taurica/orontii split for Europe. The NZ records on Hoheria need sorting out. All a mess. See later collection for holomorph record from same area.
