Specimen notes
Public Note:
[ID] Craigieburn, on large log on ground. Distinct sweet-marzipan odor. [jac] 4-spored, spores and tissue inamyloid, spores thin-walled, subglobose 7.5 x 6um. Cap vinaceous buff, hymenium of irregular plates (labrynthine-irpicoid), white, monomitic? Context yellowing slightly in KOH. Cunningham to Irpex but not this. Hymenium is Daedalea, Lenzites-like and not a typical Grifola. Hood probably has same species as Fig. 85. This specimen has the spores of G. gargal rather than sordulenta - both known from Chile and Argentina, and former known in Australia. See Rajchenberg in Bol. Soc. Arg. Bot. v37, p19-27, 2002. Despite this paper I think there is still a possibility of synonmy, and sordulenta wins. Agrees with other sequences of this taxon.
