Specimen notes
Public Note:
cap cap date brown to snuff brown, slightly depressed at centre, felty, inrolled. Stem white becoming vinacous buff. Cap cuticle peeling 1/2. Gills staining yellow where bruised. Green with FeSO4. Flesh yellowing slightly on exposure. Taste mild. Choice is between pseudoareolata and rimulosa- no formalin to hand and not possible to tell apart from description without this test! Inrolled cap seems to be characteristic of rimulosa. rimulosa of McNabb is restricted to tea-tree and there is none at this site. Looks identical to JAC11225 as pseudareolata. Spores length=6.7–8.4µm (µ=7.6, σ=0.4), width=6.2–7.4µm (µ=6.8, σ=0.3), Q=1.0–1.3µm (µ=1.13, σ=0.07), n=20, ornamentation to 1um
