Specimen notes
Public Note:
infundibuliform, blackish, encrusting litter on cap. Flesh also blackish and with very black area at stem base. Pigment diffusing into white tisue as dark violacous tint. Flesh green with FeSO4. Smell fishy. Cap peeling 1/3. Gills with citrine hue and darker edge. Taste acrid and hot after taste. Clearly associated with Kunzea (see leaves sticking to cap surface) but not far from stands of N. fusca at Hinewai. SV-ve (beware brown hyphae). Cap terminal hyphae brown in KOH. Spore ornamentation identical to type of R. inquinata, with clear plage. spores length=7.3–8.7µm (µ=7.9, σ=0.4), width=5.8–7.0µm (µ=6.5, σ=0.5), Q=1.1–1.3µm (µ=1.21, σ=0.06), n=12, ornamentation to 1um high. If this really was only with Kunzea then sequence suggests it's a var of the ss with Nothofagus.
