Public Note:
Over stream, up hill in Kauri forest; pileus: 8 cm diam. depressed with margin turned down, wavy and fluted. Dark grey or purplish grey, almost charcoal, with shining sticky surface jelly. Flat patches of thin papery membrane, pale lavender or greyish stuck irregularly, (in a crazy paving pattern), on to the jelly, especially numerous in centre. Colour fading somewhat at the margin, margin with radial grooves, crenate. Flesh white; stipe: 2 cm x 5.5 cm tapered downwards, slightly flattened at top. Flesh white, solid, continuous with stipe. Surface whitish above, then with minute pattern of pale pink dots darkening downwards to lavender. Base pale. Surface pattern of dimples; gills: adnexed, slightly sinuate. Creamy white, or yellowish in age, distant, with lateral rugae near cap; spore: print whitish.
