Specimen notes
Public Note:
[Horak] Latex white, turning brown, odour fishy. [Cooper] is big, not umerensis complex. Possibly L. maruiaensis? Cap SV-ve but pink. Cap surface is finely fibrillose. Cap surface a dense trichoderm of thick-walled hairs to 60um long, without septa and often metuloid. Occasional hairs to 200um. Cap with subepidermal yellow sinuose lactifers refractive and yellow in KOH, embedded in disorganized matrix. Gills with lactifers and few cystidia. Spores length=8.2–10.0µm (µ=8.9, σ=0.46), width=6.1–7.4µm (µ=6.9, σ=0.30), Q=1.2–1.5µm (µ=1.30, σ=0.07), n=20, ornamentation to 0.7um. Appears to be close to L. aurantioruber/mcnabii.
