Specimen notes
Public Note:
Dominant agaric with the oaks in the Park. Cap 4.5-110 clay-buff to hazel/sepia. Margin smooth - some striation with age. Scales on cap as irregular felty patches, smoke-grey. Stem 1-2cm x 6-10cm. Pendulous ring very striate (and continuing upwards to cap insertion). Stem base bulbous and scaly, discolouring. Flesh remaining white. Gills white. Spores weakly amyloid 10.2um long. This agrees with photo in Buchanan's book and agree with Geoff's comments that this A. excesla even tho this with Picea and Fagus (Nordic Macromycetes). BMSFRD has numerous records with Quercus robur. To Geoff.
