Sclerotium content gelatinized, spores amylod, stipe cortex with gelatinous outer layer (lots of particles stuck to it) and bearing subulate hair-like cystidia thickened at the base. Subgenus cnazonaria. T. spathulata group. This keys to Berthier's T. erumpens but better placed in T. setipes s.lat. for the moment. New record for NZ. Reported to MAF 2/07/2010
