Specimen notes
Public Note:
Collybioid marasmius. Stipe attached by strigose hyphae, stem cortex not dextrinoid, spores v. weakly amyloid, 9 x 3.5?, cuticle of brown swollen ramealis?siccus? cells, partially gelatinized(?), with caulocystidia with slightly swollen apex and weakly amyloid, apex cyanophilous. Unclamped hyphae, with pointed cheilocystidia, macroscopically giving gill-edge a sugar crystal appearance. Basidia staining in cresyl blue but them and spores not metachromatic, encrustation on cap hyphae metachromatic. Macroscopically close to Marasmius elegans. See Fuhrer's image and Taylor Lockwood's photo of a New Zaland collection. However, micro-morphology wrong. Not in Horak/Desjardin key but mentioned in text for M croceus.
