Specimen notes
Public Note:
same as 8999. Spores to 8.3um subglobose. For Horak rotundisporus (with Eucalyptus and Leptospermum) stains pink with KOH. Ridley & Fuhrer show cap with less yellow than those here. Soop distinguishes variety on basis of more yellow colours (from young), slender stipe, spores slightly more smooth, stipe base often orange . In coloration this collection is intermediate between rotundisporus sensu Ridley/Fuhrer and var. nothofagi sensu Soop 2005. In Soop 2007 Soop quotes molecular evidence as basis of elevating this to species rank as C. tessiae (C. nothofagi aleready taken). Sequenced by Michael Lucas OTU and found to be part of core C. tessiae group.
