Specimen notes
Public Note:
On foray table as 'Collybia'. thick gilled decurrent and cross-veined but not forked, no extended basal tomentum or rhizoids. 4-spored. Spores amyloid, and collapsed spores on gill tissue obviously so. Cuticle a cutis, separable epithelium (when dried) partially gelatinized, clamped, some brown plasmatic content, a few small, scattered diverticulate elements, no siderophilous granules in basidia, no extracellular pigment. See also jac10021. See ZT1970 & 1971. Hydropoid tan/yellow collections looking similar should be checked against Pseudoarmillaria fistulosa. Sequence in subclade of Gerronema with Trogia infundibuliformis and T. venenaya and Clitocybula atrialba. Basidia in fascicles and interwoven at base, and with basal clamps. Like type of C. fistulosa. Vesiculose cheilocystidia not seen when specimen re-examined in 2015. Basidia 40-50 x 6um. spores (minus apiculus) length=5.1–7.2µm (µ=6.4, σ=0.48), width=2.9–4.1µm (µ=3.6, σ=0.31), Q=1.5–2.3µm (µ=1.77, σ=0.18), n=29. Macro and micro agrees with C. fistulosa, but what is the correct genus? It appears in all analyses with species of gerronema and yet it has amyloid spores. It sits with the amyloid spored C. atrialba but neither are near the type of the genus. Spores with higher Q than type of C. fistulosa.nn
