Specimen notes
Public Note:
[Cooper] deeply involute. cap slimy. Looks like a Lactarius. Has dark fibrils on stem. Pink in FeSO4. Mild (maybe slightly acrid). Cheilo and pleurocystidia similar, projecting 40um beyond gill edge. Spores with low ornamentation forming a thin reticulum, 10um globose. This is closest - despite differences in spores. T. [Leonard] Confirm R. griseobrunnea. Colours in image 9324b are not at all typical, but everything else seems OK. [Cooper] More than one taxon currently hiding under this name in my collections. Does this and the type show darkening in dried material - no. SV-ve. Cap with cystidia. Spores with weakly defined plage and no amyloid spot. spores length=8.8–10.5µm (µ=9.7, σ=0.5), width=7.1–9.3µm (µ=8.2, σ=0.6), Q=1.1–1.3µm (µ=1.18, σ=0.07), n=20, ornamentation up to 0.5um.
