Specimen notes
Public Note:
White with chunky appearance. Clubs have brown tips on older material.
2-spored, spores broadly ellipsoid with wrinkled coating, inamyloid, 11-13 x 8.5 um (width remaining constant and elongating at maturity).
No clamps - even at base of basidia. Basidia 70um long.
Possibility that specimen has another fungus growing through it, with 4-spored basidia and globose, spinose, inamyloid spores.
This Clavulina is closest to northern hemispshere rugosa except that has clamps and no wrinkled spores. See also subspecies in UK Keys publications
