Specimen notes
Public Note:
Fruitbody also near pinus and pseudotsuga. Cap 9-15 cm. Mucilaginous, pellicle pealing easily. Cinnamon to brick flushed pinkish. Flesh unchanging, white at top and yellow towards tubes, unstaining in KOH, taste mild, smell normal. Pores H darkening on age, angular. Stem equal, no ring, 5-6cm x 2-3cm solid, yellowish, darker towards base, no glandulae, lemmon-chrome at apex, brick reticulation below. Spores 10 x 3. Clamps not obvious in gill tissue. This must have been with Pseudotsuga, noted as an occasional host in the literature. Untypical looking. ID on basis of sequence. If S. punctipes then odour would have been distinctive.
