Specimen notes
Public Note:
ascus from more or less overmature ascoma macro a, asci largely broken down with a few distorted J+ pores visible; from recently opened ascoma b, asci more intact, morphology of the amyloid pore more obvious and very similar to those from C. 'gunnii' PDD 76512
PR Johnston, April 2021
Public Note:
Stromata have prominant papillae when immature but these become less prominent as stroma matures; in stromata where asccospores are starting to differentiate the papillae have been more or less lost, the surface of the stroma quite even. At this stage the ascus apex is thickened and the amyloid pore has developed. The apothecia open as the outer covering layer (cortex sensu Rawlings 1956) ruptures with an irregular tear.
