Specimen notes
Public Note:
E. Horak. NZJB V9 1971: = Gymnopilus sp. From the preserved material (COLENSO 3850 B) referred to this species [P. squarrosa], only a few spores have been observed. These spores are distinctly warty, rust-brown, show a distinct plage, and are characteristic of Gymnopilus rather than any other genus. [JAC] The spores are smooth, without plage. Chryscocystidia present, but typical lecythiform Gymnopilus cystdia absent. Spores 7 x 4um, no germ pore observed. This does not appear to be a Gymnopilus. The macro-morphological appearance suggests P. multicingulata.
