Specimen notes
Public Note:
Not ionomidotic. Dark apothecia erumpent from dead bark singly or in small groups, from dry specimens appears to be an outer layer that breaks open to reveal the dark hymenium, remains of this layer in part as small tooth-like projections around edge of hymenium. Excipulum of thin-walled cells, containing clumps of crystals. Subhymenium dark brown, top of hymenium embedded in dark gree3n material (in KOH), darker with melzers. Asci amyloid; ascospores about 10-11.5 x 4.5-5.5 µm, broad-ellitptic, 0-septate, becoming brown.
