Public Note:
PILEUS: 7-11cm diam., convex, centrally depressed, greyish brown, rather innately areolate to slightly sooty, viscid, smooth, no velar remnants. GILLS: mod. crowded, white at first, then with pallid cohraceous tints, lamellae simple, lamellulae numerous, 3 seroes, often in some seqiuence, slighlty stained and spotted with ochraceous tints when old. STIPE: 405cm long, equal, 1.5-2.5cm diam., solid, dry, smooth, dull greyish brown, slighlty more pallid than pileus. CONTEXT OF PILEUS: pallid greyish white, unchanging. CHEMICAL CHARACTERS: formalin on context - slowly pallid salmon; phenol - slowly deep vinaceous; FeSO4 - salmon pink (not greenish); guaicol on stipe base - immed. brick red, deepening; KOH on pileus - darkening; on context - n.r.?faint yellowing?; NH4OH on pileus - darkening; on context - n.r.
