Public Note:
PILEUS: 7-9.5cm diam., centrally depressed, viscid in wet weather, without velar remnants, faintly and almost innately felted, greyish brown, margins not marked. GILLS: crowded, white at first, becoming very pallid creamy white, slighlty discoloured brownish in places at maturity, 8mm deep, lamellae simple, 1,2 & 3-ary lamellulae preseet, more or less in sequence. STIPE: stout, 4.5 cm long, 2cm diam., solid, dry, annulus absent, more pallid greyish brown than pileus, faintly pruinose-velvety under lens. Flesh faintly brownish white, unchanging. CONTEXT OF PILEUS: faintly greyish-white particularly under cuticle. SPORE PRINT: pure white when fresh. CHEMICAL REACTIONS: formalin - faint salmon pink. Phenol - slowly deep vinaceous-prple; feS)4 faint salmon pink; guiaiacol on stipe base - salmon, darkening to orange brown. KOH on pileus - slightly darkening; on context n.r. NH4OH on pileus - slightly darkening; on context n.r. HABITAT: solitary under Nothofagus menziesii, Nelson, karamea, Umere, 19.1.1968, Coll. R.F.R. McNabb. Illustrations: Painting K34.
