Specimen notes
Public Note:
University of Canterbury Botany Dept. Myxomycete Collection No. 39
Public Note:
39. Sent as Diderma ochraceum. Certainly a Physarum, The double wall and the sessile, heaped subplasmodiocarpous sporangia place it in with P. contextum, P. diderma etc, but there is no known species to which I can assign it. It is probably undescribed. However, this specimen has been soaked with rain, probably repeatedly, after maturation, and spores in all mounts made had been emptied of their contents.I should not venture to describe it on the basis of this collection. I am retaining a small quantity with the hope that better material will enable it to be described. There are a few sparangia of Didymium melanospermum (Pers.) Macbr. present.
