Specimen notes
Public Note:
in salt marsh turf. Large, with caps to 15cm, stipe to 15cm x 1.5cm. No striations at cap margin, margin entire. Ring Chlorophyllum-like. Lamellae bruising reddish in older specimens. Stipe hollow, surface staining yellow on bruising. With brownish umbo (unlike typical leucothites), and cap irregular wavy. KOH, AA -ve (out of interest), Spores dextrinoid, not metachromatic, 7.5 x 6um (small for leucothites). Then spores from overnight print, dried, do not heat BCB solution. Then clear metachromatic endospores and especially the plug. Lamellae dry grey.
