Public Note:
dark greenish pulvinate asco on sooty mould colony. Seems to be associated with a sclerotium in the mould layer, and possible originally associated with a scale insect. An adjacent scale insect had an outer shell of yellow thick-walled unclamped hyphae, the same as the hyphae in the sclerotium. Asci bitunicate? Initially with 5?-septate hylaine cylindrical pores, very quickly becoming bacilloid polysporous. Tympanidaceae? Tympanis? I have seen these apothecia previously - jac16996 [JAC:21/12/2022] tried to get into culture and forms grey colonies with torulose hyphae … Boeremia exigua contaminant
