overgrowing other sooty molds and forming a distinctly deep reddish-brown fluffy coating over the black hyphal host (Metacapnodium). Capnodium ID just a guess from hyphal morphology. This does have a sequence near one depsoited as Metacapnodium neesii, moved from Capnobotrys and for which it is the type species (from Austria). No conidiophores found. [JAC:18/11/2022] another singleton. Some potential confusion of names here. I assume Capnobotrys neesii was moved to Metacapnodium (in obscure Japanese journal) because of its relationship to a sequence labelled Metacapnodium ericophilum. This combination sinks the genus Capnobotry against Metacapnodium. However the type of Metacapnodium is M. juniperi. M. ericophilum was nmoved from Antennularia. So Capnobotrys and Antennularia sink into a protected Metacapnodium (Antennularia has priority).
