Specimen notes
Public Note:
[WMD] Purple waxcap with a slightly viscid cap surface. Fruit body 30 mm in diameter and 45 mm in height. Gills descending and stipe yellow at base. On soil in kaihikatea-totara forest. [JAC] with a band of hyphae on the gill edge. Note that Horak refers to this feature as cheilocystidia but there aren't clearly distingusihed individual cells I would call cystidia. This without abundant red/pink tints I would place closer to lilacipes than versicolor. The versicolor material needs checking for the presence of real cystidia in addition to the gelatinised gill edge, and fresh material of both need the flesh colour checking. Apparently deep lilac in lilacipes.
