[NS] Scattered in duff, from soil, under beech. . Cap 38-80 mm across, moist, with scattered to dense warts (warts soft, like bits of foam rubber), margin short sulcate, gills distinctly dark gray marginate, stipe 55-111 mm long, 5.5-10 mm thick at apex, base with rounded bulb, 10.5-22 mm across, covered with dark gray fibrils in a chevron-like pattern, partial vail dark gray and grooved on upper side when young, collapsing to stipe and darkening (to blackish) in age, upper side of bulb with appressed tomentose, blackish tissue. Flesh very this, blackish just under cap surface, watery gray to whitish, stipe whitish to pale gray, hollow.
