Public Note:
[NS ]Cortinarius (purple pouch). Scattered, from soil, in duff under beech . Cap 20-36 mm across, globose to subglobose, thinly viscid, margin fused to stipe with pale violet cortina when young, breaking free slightly, but not exposing gleba when mature, stipe 17-78 mm long (to cap margin, 92 mm to end), 10 -17 mm thick at cap margin, tapering where enclosed, moist to dry, not viscid, base with small bulb, with upward flaring veil tissue on some, breaking at cap junction easily, solid when young, hollow in age, odor slight, disagreeable, taste earthy, KOH blackish on gleba, no other reaction. UV light pale bluish violet on all purple parts, pale creamy yellow on whitish parts (stipe and flesh).
