[NS] In large troops and loose clustered, from soil, under beech . Cap 12-28 mm across, conical with a pointed umbo, dry, roughened and wrinkled, stipe 34-55 mm long, 2.5-4 mm thick, odor disagreeable, of coal tar? Taste disagreeable. KOH dark brown on cap and upper stipe, blackish on lower stipe.
