Specimen notes
Public Note:
[NS] On decayed beech branch. Cap 17-38 mm across, dry, stipe 31-40 mm long, 3-6 mm thick, dingy staining on lower portion when handled, no odor, taste mild. [JAC] The spores are brown (not Xeromphalina) but they are smooth, phaseoliform 8.5 x 4 and the cheilocystidia large and club-shaped. Microscopically this does not look like a Gymnopilus, although macroscopically it does.
