Specimen notes
Public Note:
[PdL] Colonial, Common on sandy ground under rawiri (Kunzea linearis), rawirinui (K. robusta) and kahikatoa (Leptospermum scoparium s.l.). Fruiting body coriaceous, smooth. Stipe wine-red, pileus more or less flat, upper surface smooth, gills red. [JAC] This should be Cortinarius cruentoides but the spores are small (3.8um wide) and nearly smooth, which does not fit. We'll see where it pops out.
