Specimen notes
Public Note:
[PdL] Solitary amongst mosses and liverworts in mixed beech (Fuscospora cliffortioides x F. solandri, F. fusca) / podocarp forest. Fruiting body solitary, c.50 mm tall, pileus, c.40 mm diameter. Stipe yellow (not discolouring on bruising), clavate with the base a mycelial pad enmeshed within mosses and liverworts; stipe surface smooth, attached to pileus centrally; pileus convex (hemispheric), upper surface felted, pale honey-brown, cortex yellow; pileus margin smooth, gills even, smooth, yellow.[JAC] From material: it has amyloid spores which immediately places it in the Tricholoma-related genus Porpoloma. It's Gondwana distributed genus and residual northern hemisphere species need moving. The stipe has a sheathing ring zone the base, not visible in the photos. Unfortunately the material has dried rather poorly and been attacked by mites.
