The pileipellis is an ixocutis with some broad/inflated cylindrical elements. It is not a hymeniderm becoming a polycystoderm and does not have keg-shaped cells.(cf. Petersen and Hughes). Some of the elements correspond to the Petersen plate (but not the text).
