Specimen notes
Public Note:
[GS] Growing on a rotting piece of driftwood in a riverbed. Fruit bodies up to 35 mm across, dark brown. Gills fawn coloured with serrated edges. Stems short and dark brown. [JAC] does indeed have a stem, but then so do some sequenced collections of L. pulvinulus. There is a sequence of L. nz and if this the same then the pilocystidia character needs checking as something that might be more definitive. ... except sequence says this is L. subragillaceus, which also has pilocystidia. This is supposed to be trimitic and L. pulvinulus dimitic. This is trimitic in Petersens' sense, i.e normal hyphae, thick-walled hyphae and gloeoplerous hyphae. L. pulvinulus should not have the the thick-walled hyphae in the subpellis.
