Specimen notes
Public Note:
[PL] Uncommon. On clay banks within flood zone of stream. Surrounding forest dominated by rawirinui (Kunzea robusta). Fruiting bodies up to 30 mm tall, grey, smooth, and somewhat 'rubbery' in texture, more or less clavate, simple or distinctly branched and coralloid like shown here. [JAC] 4-spored, tissue monomitic, spores hyaline, smooth, without conical hilar appendix to 6.5um diam, flesh unchanging in FeCl - Clavaria. Trama unclamped, basidia with looped clamps - subgenus Holocoryne. The nearest described species is C. muscula but I don't think it is that. In this collection most fruitbdoies are simple and have a yellowish base, not apparent in the photo.
